Business Insider makes a significant investment in healthcare coverage with three new hires

Business Insider is making a significant investment in healthcare coverage with the hiring of Andrew Dunn, Kimberly Leonard, and Blake Dodge, Executive Editor Matt Turner announced in a memo to the editorial team.

The new hires to the team, led by editor Zachary Tracer, come at a time of rapid innovation in the healthcare industry. Tech companies and retailers are seeking to stake a claim to the $3.6 trillion US industry, challenging traditional healthcare firms. Meanwhile, reshaping the system is a major focus in the upcoming presidential election.

With the additions of Andrew, Kimberly, and Blake, Business Insider's healthcare team will cover everything from primary care and pharmacies to pharmaceuticals and healthcare policy. 

Andrew will cover pharmaceutical companies and the biotech industry. He joins from BioPharma Dive, and is based in Washington, DC. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he remains a diehard Boston sports fan. 

Kimberly joins from the Washington Examiner and will cover healthcare policy from DC. She speaks fluent French and is certified as a PADI open water diver. 

And Blake joins BI after stints at Newsweek and Bloomberg News. She’ll cover the intersection of healthcare and technology from New York. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was an All-ACC runner. 

They join Lydia Ramsey, a correspondent on the team, who covers all the ways people get and pay for healthcare. Lydia runs Dispensed, Business Insider's weekly healthcare newsletter, which is sent to more than 15,000 subscribers. You can subscribe to it here.
